Our history
From a Single Planer to a Key Player in the Lumber Industry
The story of Usine Sartigan Inc. began in 1983, when a challenge turned into an opportunity. Following the fire that destroyed a sawmill in the early 1970s in Saint-Georges, Michel Rodrigue and Jean-Marc Roy, driven by determination and vision, decided to rebuild a business from a single planer that had survived the disaster. This marked the birth of Préparation et Distributions Sartigan.
Their dedication to quality and perseverance led to steady growth. A few years later, the company took a significant step forward by relocating to Saint-Honoré-de-Shenley. This move became a turning point, and in 1992, Usine Sartigan Inc. was officially established, solidifying its position in the lumber industry.
Since then, the company has continuously evolved, driven by a spirit of innovation and deeply rooted family values. In the early 2000s, the second generation took the helm, with Steeve Roy and Kaven Roy, sons of Jean-Marc Roy, ensuring continuity while injecting new energy into the business. Today, the third generation—Jean-Raphaël Roy and Ariane Roy, Steeve Roy’s children—has joined the adventure, carrying forward the expertise and reputation that define Usine Sartigan Inc.
More than just a story of lumber transformation, Usine Sartigan Inc. is a story of passion, determination, and innovation. Passed down from generation to generation, it continues to shape its future, driven by growth and the challenges of tomorrow.
